Interactive Play - A Fun Relationship Builder

Interactive Play is a term used by cat behaviorists to describe a game that allows you to interact with your cat, most likely with a wand-type toy. Interactive Play is not just fun, it is also a way to build a strong trust and relationship with your cat. The best way to play is to use the toy to simulate the movement of prey, and allow your cat to capture and “hunt”. After a short play period and multiple captures, wind down slowly, and you give your cat a treat or some food, which makes them feel like they are the best hunters ever. That feeling builds your cat’s confidence in themselves and in you.

An important note is to keep the interactive toys stored away between play sessions. This keeps the toys fresh in the cat’s mind, but most importantly, keeps them safe from the risk of chewing on a string or tangling dangerously.
